My in-laws suggested we throw a party whilst we were house-sitting for them last month – everything you need is here, have as many people as you like, nothing is too precious. How lucky are we?! Rain moved my Kinfolk-inspired garden set up to under the patio but it was still beautiful. I felt so happy as everyone around me mmmm’d as they ate my cooking and admired my table decor. And incredibly grateful for my husband who is amazingly helpful with coordinating drinks and doing clean up. At 8 people it was my biggest solo catering project yet and every dish was a success, phew!

Menu
all dishes from my cooking club book – Donna Hay Fast, Fresh, Simple

moroccan cous cous with spiced chicken & pomegranate seeds
torn pasta with chorizo & peas
caprese salad with vine-ripened tomatoes, olives, basil & buffalo mozzarella
spice bbq pork ribs
roasted potato salad with fetta, basil & prosciutto
peach & plum crumbles with salted caramel ice-cream

Mmmm! That looks like a spread that could feed a crowd of varied food preferences, too.

Your dinner party in the garden looks beautiful and your menu so appetising. I noticed there was a selection of Donna Hay’s recipes in one of the Saturday newspapers yesterday and I had to take a look. They looked so good and quite uncomplicated.

Such a beautiful table, menu, and mood in your photographs. I’m especially smitten with your tomato image. Lovely. I want a bite.

I remember looking at these photos not long after you posted them… I had such a strong desire to be back home, cooking (rarely happens here!) and then eating dinner with all my closest friends outside by candlelight in the balmy night air. It looks like you had such a gorgeous evening :)
