a summer salad *sydney*

Reuben Hills – Surry Hills, Sydney
I devoured this delicious watermelon, fetta, mint and olive salad (with a salted caramel milkshake, mmmmm) at a recent breakfast outing. It reminded me just how much I love this combination of flavours. I’ve made a couple of these salads since to see us through the hot summer days. Have you been recreating meals at home that you have eaten elsewhere?

Yum Lucent, whenever I read about those salted caramel milkshakes I want to jump on the next plane to Sydney! I have not tried watermelon and feta salad but it sounds delicious…my friend also makes it with lamb. Happy new year to you.
Oh what a delicious and fresh combination of flavours! I can guess imagine the taste. YUM
Yuuummmm!
delicious flavors….also, I like watermelon and tomatoes together….learned it from Bittman. summer sounds so far away here in the northern climes. nice to get a glimpse of your warmer days. ox
Some of my favourite foods – more soup weather here though xo
Nothing says summer like watermelon, doesn’t it? I have yet to give a watermelon salad a try!
The one restaurant dish I have tried to recreate was a potato salad in a Swiss restaurant.
This watermelon salad is delicious and we’ve been meaning to try Reuben Hills! Another favourite salad of ours is one I first ate at a restaurant and copied – rocket (arugula), chickpeas, sweet potato and either feta or haloumi with a dressing of olive oil, white balsamic vinegar and dijon mustard.
That sounds so refreshing! I hope the heat you have at the moment is not affecting you too much.

This weekend just past we tried to recreate a Vietnamese meal we had in Melbourne! It wasn’t a complete fail, but it didn’t taste nearly as good as the real thing. But, I think we could get close in the end!
I’ve heard a lot about watermelon and feta salads – so many people love it! Unfortunately I can’t stand watermelon (even the smell makes me feel ill), so I will never know the delights of this gorgeous looking salad!
