diner en blanc *sydney*

18 November 2012

One of the funniest moments occurred as we walked from our group’s meeting point to the secret location. There were many people outside a pub enjoying a beautiful October afternoon and as they spotted all of us walking past, they quickly figured out the all-white rule. “That guy has coloured suspenders on!” “His beard is brown!” Laughter and good spirit all around.

As with Diner en Blanc Brisbane we attended in September, I was conscious of not spending the whole night taking photos and revelled in the atmosphere and interactions with people. Not pictured here is our stunning outlook over Circular Quay with its constant flurry of ferries and the iconic Sydney Opera House. As we sat in our chairs, we could look further left and see the Sydney Harbour Bridge, look right to the city buildings and behind us the walls of the Museum of Contemporary Art upon which lawn we dined. I am so happy to be a part of the Diner en Blanc community in Australia. We hope to attend dinners at other locations around the world in the future.

This is the most fun idea I’ve heard of in a long time!! You have inspired me to ask all the guests to our Christmas Tree Party to wear white ( or maybe red….) . Thanks for another delightful post.

Must have been a spectacle to watch a large group of people all dressed in white walking by :)

how gorgeous… what an amazing thing to be a part of. I can imagine how breathtaking it is as you look around an see everyone in white, under the stars with gorgeous Sydney as a backdrop. Pinch yourself moments, for sure.

As an aside, the only “white party” I’ve ever seen was in South Beach Miami… and let me assure you, there was nothing classy about that!

Gorgeous photos! I wish they’d have one in Perth, I’ve loved the idea since finding out about the Paris one.
