weekend in *hunter valley*

18 September 2012

Last spring we took a weekend trip to Hunter Valley with another couple. It was their last hurrah with us before their baby girl was born. Even though I don’t drink wine, I like visiting certain wineries. The uniform rows of seasonally changing vines, the wooden barrels and that feeling of being inspired by quality produce and time with loved ones. There’s always that bit of romance too, even as I sip my soft drink or water – one can drift away to fantasies of French or Italian vineyards or cosy nights in onsite accommodations here with a fire, cheese platter and good company. We ate gourmet food aplenty, bought supplies for home and relaxed in our surprisingly huge villa overlooking the golf course. A lovely little weekend escape.

One of my favourite destinations in Australia. The Hunter Valley is always a good weekend (or long weekend) whether a romantic getaway with husband or a fun weekend to share with friends.

I love the Hunter. Did you know I got married there last year? So many beautiful memories.

Sounds like you had a great time!

Gorgeous photos … I’d love to go to the Hunter … (but I would definitely be drinking and buying lots of wine). ;)

As soon as I saw that lovely horse photo I yelled ‘Horseys!’ and then I saw the coffee cup photo and yelled ‘Coffee!’ (clearly you know just what to include to grab my attention). xx
