movies on repeat
Hollywood Hills, 2010
When it comes to movies, I’m mostly not a very harsh critic. Movies that are thought-provoking, tear jerking or revealing of plight or injustice are truly moving and important. But I’m very happy to turn to a cheesy Hollywood or formulaic style movie. It’s a chance to switch off the brain, laugh, perve on good looking men and women, admire the beautiful scenery and come out feeling light hearted. The easy-watching movies that I can view again and again are:
Under the Tuscan Sun
Mamma Mia
Eat Pray Love
Midnight in Paris
Vicky Christina Barcelona
Letters to Juliet
Sweet Home Alabama
Shrek
James Bond
I asked my husband and he guessed half of these straight away. It was quite hilarious listening to him prattle them off and know me so well. Oh, and put me in front of Puss in Boots and Donkey if you want to see me laugh til I can’t breathe. That scene where Puss in Boots chokes on the fur ball gets me every time. Yep, sometimes I’m just a kid at heart.
What are the movies you can watch again and again?

A few of those are on my list to watch, or to re-watch!
I’m a bit cartoon person, so have watched many Disney movies more than a few times. Also Taken, which for some reason seems to show on TV every year – Liam Neeson’s voice is just so lovely, even when he’s being very threatening heheh, and I love a bit of action. Also been slowly making my way through some Jacky Chan classics.
Love these, I could watch Midnight in Paris and Vicky Christina Barcelona over and over.
My faves are mostly 90′s teen movies, great memories.
Clueless, 10 Things I hate about You, Dirty Dancing . . .
I’ve also finally convinced Tom to watch Buffy from the start with me, I love it madly, I think because it reminds me of being a dorky teenager!
I adore the movies you’ve listed that have romantic foreign settings. I love the yearning that it causes in my heart, that warm ache to explore beautiful cities and have unique experiences with the locals. Midnight in Paris is definitely a fave!
What a fabulous photo of the Hollywood sign! I haven’t been out there yet but am looking forward to checking out the West Coast sometime (hopefully soonish!). Loved your list of movies – Vicky Christina Barcelona, Shrek and Sweet Home Alabama are on my list too.
Hi there! Hmm, well, I think I’ve gotten much more picky in later years. But I have seen Midnight in Paris three times and Letters to Juliet twice and we own those. That’s kind of a benchmark for me, if I’m willing to buy the DVD. A few others that I can see repeatedly are Sense and Sensibility and Phantom of the Opera. Since I rarely have much time to watch a film, I do like relying on one that I know won’t disappoint!
Have a great week.
