I have been reading about plants that are shown to have better air-cleaning capabilities for the home. It’s quite fascinating and helps to narrow down the myriad of possibilities. Of course, they must still pass the other tests for inclusion in our abode! I’m considering another peace lily, a couple of ferns, and a spider plant, corn plant or florist’s chrysanthemum. I’m also trying to decide what to do with this chair on which my peace lily sits. It is from my childhood and ridiculously cute. Ridiculously. (It lives in our study with a box of things for my shop next to it.) I’m entertaining the idea of painting it white or even just putting a protective coating on it so that it can go outside. Little things to ponder in my little urban garden!

In other news, the orchid I received on my 30th birthday last year is back in action. I put the pot outside in the summer heat and occasionally watered it, subconsciously projecting my black thumb history upon it so that expectations weren’t too high. Lo and behold, it has surprised me with another flowering!

How are you going with your gardens and pot plants?

The orchid I received for Valentine’s day last year has upheld my black thumb prediction and not re-flowered. I also have a spider plant that refuses to be killed, and a pathos that I carefully tend and have managed not to kill, although it loses a lot of its leaves and looks a bit scrawny.

Ooh, this is a timely post! I really want to have more plants in the house and I keep seeing beautiful pics, such as yours and it’s inspiring me to finally get myself to a nursery and make it happen!

beautifully photographed and written. really love the perspective you chose for each of the photos…and loving the little childhood chair. I have my childhood rocking chair that was originally my dad’s so it’s really ancient. happy weekend my friend!
