rain here & sun in washington DC

7 January 2011

What extremes of weather Australia has received lately – high temperatures, floods, snow and brewing cyclones. My thoughts go out to those in Queensland who are battling through floods that have been stated as covering a total area the size of France and Germany combined. I’m also thinking of those all around the world who have experienced loss caused by blizzards, tornadoes etc.

Apart from the destructive, life changing weather, I love all kinds. So on this dark summer’s (!) day I’m looking back over pictures from summer in Washington DC last June. For a girl who feels the cold, it was such a pleasure to be out at night in DC wearing just a singlet and shorts. On this night we window shopped along M Street, escaped an intense but short downpour in Barnes & Noble where I picked up Artful Blogging magazine and ate some of the most incredible Italian ever at Paper Moon (order the pane con gorgonzola – it was divine, heavenly and we tell everyone about this place).

My USA friends, does anyone know what the copyright rules are regarding posting photos of shop windows and their displays taken after business hours? I have some lovely ones that I don’t want to post until I know that I can.

Having never been to DC, I love these little glimpses into the architecture and scenery. And I LOVE your Lensbaby photos! I don’t know for sure about the copyright point but if you are only showing it as part of a trip, I don’t see any problem at all. You are not selling the image and are giving them some promotion as well. Worst case, they can ask for you to remove it.

Thank you very much for your lovely comment about my Somerset Life article. I really do appreciate it!

    Have a great weekend. – g
