presents & purchases

4 January 2011

Happy new year!

I hope you had a wonderful break that left you feeling refreshed and inspired for 2011. I have been spoilt with presents from precious people and some post-Christmas-sales purchases. I managed to acquire or make all my gifts without needing to venture into the craziness that is pre-Christmas shopping. Apart from the fact that such chaos is an exhausting challenge for a person who is vision-impaired, I am resistant to excess advertising so I shutdown to all the stimulus beforehand and wait for the sales after. I haven’t really shopped since our holiday in USA in June/July so I enjoyed an outing with a gorgeous pregnant friend with serious stamina and a mutual respect for red shoes, and another afternoon with my husband who spoils me. I have linked to where the products are from in case you like the things as much as I do!

I am now a converted e-book fan and the minimalist in me likes to own less books. But I still want and love recipe and reference-type books in hard copies, so I was thrilled when we received these books. My husband is especially excited for the curries I will make him for his lunch. Thanks Mum!

Another fedora hat! Given we love to walk to social gatherings, run errands and to go on photo adventures, flat sensible shoes are my friend. For the first time in my life, I snapped up three pairs at once from one store – Country Road. The leather loafers are as soft as slippers!

What did you get over the holidays that you are excited to wear/use? Update: Bloggers, do you ever publish a post and then think “oh I should have added this, or changed that”? All the time? Yes, me too. Yesterday I walked away from this one and thought to myself that I should have added how nothing makes me happier than the time with loved ones and our shared meals, walks, laughs and photos. Lo and behold, my dear friend Allyn commented below and said it so perfectly – “knowing you, just being loved is the same as being spoiled like crazy”. She knows me well. I would still be happy with no presents. They are a bonus cherry on the top to the joys I get from life and the people in it. Oh. By the way, I don’t like cherries. The real ones that is. The proverbial ones I dig. They’re everywhere if you look for them.

Emotions flowing again on reading your latest blog! I wish I could express in words to you how your writing moves me – my heart sings when I read your pieces, and then your readers respond and I have the wonderful chance, from their words, to know how many people you touch in the same way you touch me, and I am so grateful for your insight and strength as you travel your path through life.

I love Typo! Every time I go in to that store, I always manage to buy something. Stationery is my weakness :/

Thank you so much for your lovely comments regarding my upcoming wedding :)

Oh sweet. I’ve missed you! Love, love the hat and shoes. Also makes me want to go back to visit DC in nicer weather. Love also that your mum comments on your blog. Such a sweet relationship you have. I also love when my mom or dad make a comment! Happy 2011.
