new orleans souvenirs

18 October 2010

New Orleans, Louisiana. Of all the places we visited in summer, this was the one that could not be summed up easily in a few words. A city that is full of life, music, colour, culture, history, cuisine and loyal lovers of their home. A place that leaves you feeling both despair and joy. Thank you to those who shared their stories with us as we sought some understanding of the harsh reality of Hurricane Katrina. Respect to those who have never given up hope on their cherished communities. It is inspirational to witness. May you conquer the oil spill and continue being strong, unique and proud. May your vibrant city never fade and your music always be heard.

Here are the first of my NOLA pictures – a souvenir shop on our first night walk.

despite the devestation, i love that you capture the light + bright energy of what draws the masses to this city. it’s the exotic + novel pieces that make this place such an interest! lovely.

I usually avoid those souvenir shops like the plague, but you’ve made them actually look pretty and interesting! I’m glad you enjoyed your time here!
